2709798 - Sorting Sequence: Special Characters Appear Below Z

Symptom

You are sorting Accounts in ascending or descending order and you notice that Account names that start with special characters like Ä or Á etc appear below Z and not along A as expected. Logging on in the language that the characters belong to does not change the behaviour.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Customers workcenter.
  2. Go to the Accounts view.
  3. In the column with the account name, click the symbol for sorting and sort in ascending order.

Result: Account names that start with special characters appear below Z.

Cause

This is due to the C4C system not passing a language parameter to the HANA DB hence HANA doesn’t recognise what language you are logged in and puts the special characters at the end.

Resolution

This is a limitation.
