2710632 - Time Off UI and Administer Time Show Different Values

Symptom

The balance of a Time Account displayed on a user's Time Off UI is different to the value shown in Administer Time / workbench.

Environment

Employee Central - Time Off

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the Time Off UI on the profile of a user and take note of what is displayed
  2. Navigate to Administer time -> Time Accounts
  3. The name and balance displayed is different to that on the Time Off UI.

Cause

The Time Off UI always shows the balance per Time Type, and Administer Time shows the Time Account Type.

Resolution

Example:

Time Type 'Leave' has 2 Time Account types assigned:

  • Annual Leave
  • Additional Leave

Each time account type will have a separate time account and balance.

Annual leave has a balance of 20 days, and Additional leave has 5 days.

On the Time Off UI of the user it will show 'Leave' with 25 days, but in Administer Time it will show both separately as "Annual Leave" with 20 days and "Additional Leave" with 5 days.

When the user is requesting time off, it will be the time type that is displayed (Leave).

Then depending on the balance left on each account, and which is listed first on the time type, the leave will be deducted from that time account.

If annual leave is listed first, the days will be deducted from that account until balance is zero.

Then the balance will be deducted from additional leave after that until that balance is cleared.
