2712267 - No printout for merged PDF spool

Symptom

In the system which has SAP Note #2237181 - "ADS spool requests are displayed incompletely with SAP GUI for HTML" implemented, an ADS spool consisting of multiple PDF files (parts) is merged into a single PDF file.
When printing the merged PDF file via SAPPDFPRINT, there is no printout from the printer. 

Once the printing is started from SAP, there is one single PDF file created in user's temporary folder C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\SAP\SAP GUI\tmp\.
When trying to open this file, the used PDF program reports an error saying that the file is damaged and could not be repaired.
