2714412 - "Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel" error in SAP Portal Drive

Symptom

Users are unable to connect to portal via Portal Drive Client 6.0 when entering "https://<hostname>:<port>/"  Server URL in the URL field.

The following error can be found in the Portal Drive log:

ERROR PortalDriveNewUI.MainWindow.<MountWorker_DoWork>b__0 - Unable to mount. Message:

System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: An error occurred while sending the request. ---> System.Net.WebException: The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.
