Symptom
Incorrect data shows for number type data with 14 decimal place in Excel when creating model using import excel file
Environment
- SAP Analytics Cloud 2018.20.0
Reproducing the Issue
- Create an Excel file with several columns. One column’s data type is number with 14 decimal places. For example: one cell’s value is 43.06929500000000
- Logon to SAP Analytics Cloud.
- Create a Model based on the Excel created in step 1.
=> Note that 43.06929500000000 changed to 43.06929499999997.
Cause
The column is not being recognized as a number column, this happens because some of the values in that column contain an invisible character after the digits.
Resolution
Clean up those values and remove the invisible character at the end, SAC will be able to parse the number values correctly.
