BYTE_SUBSTR

(Changed) Returns only BINARY or LONG BINARY. Previously, this function returned BINARY, LONG BINARY, VARCHAR, LONG VARCHAR, NVARCHAR, or LONG NVARCHAR, depending on the type of the input string expression.

INSERTSTR

(Changed) If all of the input expressions are BINARY, then this function returns LONG BINARY. Previously, the INSERTSTR function returned LONG NVARCHAR or LONG VARCHAR, even if the input expressions were BINARY.

STUFF
