Symptom

The following entries are displayed in the dev_jstart log file:

*** WARNING => SfCInstanceManager::newState: unknown runMode 'xxxx'. [sfxxinst.adg 1647]
*** LOG => Starting run level 1.
*** ERROR => SfEIllegalArgument: SfCConfig::expand: unmatched ']' in : 2*$link{[EXTERNAL]#vm.params/maxHeapSize,memory}*1  [sfxxlib.hpp  3727]
*** LOG => Instance state is "Not started" (STARTING @ 0, INACTIVE)."
