The characteristic Preceding E-Mail was built and designed in order to store the preceding e-mail which was replied in an e-mail activity. For example, If we consider the email B points to A, this means that the email C will point to B, which is the correct flow for this characteristic.

For each E-Mail Activity that a user replied on the latest interaction, the characteristic Preceding E-Mail will point to the last interaction before the current one, which means that, when creating an e-mail response, this characteristic will point out to the last interaction before this response.

This highlights that this characteristic usability is not to display the e-mail that is currently being replied to, but the one that was replied before in the system, which is the system designed behavior.
