2722304 - Failed to Activate Items of Type Web Service: View Name Already Exists; Specify a Different Name

Symptom

When trying to activate solution in Cloud Applications Studio (SDK), an error message is raised referring to Webservice file is raised:

Activating items of type Web Service...
Failed to activate items of type Web Service
Error in /YYYYYYYYY_MAIN/SRC/.... XXXX.webservice (Repository Path of the file)

Where YYYYYYYYY_ is the ID of the solution you are trying to activate.

Environment

  • SAP Cloud for Customer
  • SAP Business ByDesign
  • SAP Cloud Applications Studio

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to your tenant via Cloud Applications Studio.
  2. Try to activate a solution.
  3. Error messages are raised relating to items of type WebService.

Cause

This issue happens due to an inconsistency in data of the web services involved in the solution. The Business Object (BO) view name in one of the web services is not entered.

Resolution

To avoid this error message, please provide a name in the BO View of the webservice mentioned in the error message. This can be done by creating a patch in the source system and then deploying the same in the target system.
