2722557 - Migration of Open Tax Items in SAP ByDesign

• You maintained taxes for items in the Migration templates for Open Receivable/ Open Payable Items.
• You maintain the respective balances in the G/L account balances migration template.
• During the Cross Check Balances Preview warnings appear notifying you that the Migration Clearing account for tax does not balance to zero.

1. In the Migration of Accounting Transaction Data enter the Migration activity via the Migrate accounting transaction data using the migration tool link.
2. Create the Migration unit and upload all relevant templates.
3. Then, in step 2- Cross-Check Balances warnings appear, such as 'The balance of the migration reconciliation account is not zero. Correct data and restart simulation.' as well as G/L account XXXXXX replaced by
   migration clearing account YYYYYY (XXXXXX represents the G/L account ID maintained in the G/L account template; YYYYYY represents the Migration clearing account ID).

In general, SAP ByDesign does not support stand-alone tax migration. All tax returns must be completed in the legacy system before migration to ByDesign. The tax accounts should balance to zero before you migrate your data into SAP ByDesign.

Taxes can only be migrated in combination with Open Items Payable or Receivable. However, as all the tax has been reported before migration the taxes maintained in the migration template are stored as statistical taxes and are used for recalculations, for example, in case of cash discounts. These tax amounts do not show up in accounting.

The migration clearing account for tax is only used as offsetting account for taxes from  Open Items Payable or Receivable that are marked as deferred tax or tax items from down payments. In this case taxes are being migrated to accounting. And therefore the migration clearing account for tax is being hit.
