2722579 - Meaning of Dates in Outgoing Checks

Symptom

You have created and processed an Outgoing Check and wish to know the meaning of each of the Date fields.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Payment Management work center.
  2. Go to Payment Monitor view.
  3. Find and open the Outgoing Check.

Resolution

Document Date: Date on which the document is created.

Posting Date: Date on which the document is posted in accounting.

Date of Issue: Date on which the Outgoing Check has been issued. It can be manually changed when creating the Check.

Voiding Date: Date on which the Outgoing Check has been voided.

Expected Bank Value Date: Date on which the Check is expected to be cashed. The value of the bank value date is set to a default of plus 6 work days in order to reflect the delay in check processing (long duration could occur), so that the document is not recognized as immediate disbursements (taken into account in the liquidity forecast / Cash Position). This default is a best guess to optimize values for the forecast reporting. More details with regards to Bank Value Date can also be found in KBA 2492819 - Balance Difference Between Cash Position and Bank Statement.

Cashing Date: This date is populate only when the check is confirmed by a bank statement and it assumes the date value being the same date on which the check has been confirmed in the bank statement, that is the creation date of the bank statement.
