2726521 - Rule Effective Date not considered during Accrual Rule Execution

Symptom

Incorrect accrual amounts posted on time accounts due to rule effective date not being considered during accrual rule execution

Scenario: Hire rule has been originally configured originally with effective date on 01/01/2018 to grant certain accrual amount based on the month that they join the company. At one point in time, accrual amount to be granted has to be increased and this is inserted as a new rule slice with a new effective date, e.g. 07/01/2018. In this case, for all new hires who have been hired after the month of July should receive the accrual amount as configured on the new rule configuration, however, previous amount which is configured on the old configuration (01/01/2018) is posted instead.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Time Off

Resolution

This is an expected system behavior.

Hire/Accrual rules always take the accrual period start date as the effective start date of the rule. SAP does not recommend changing the rule configuration within an accrual period as this could result into incorrect accruals.

Example: If you have annual accrual frequency and you have accrual rule effective 01/01/2018, it is not suggested to insert a new rule slice within the accrual period, in this case, within the current year (2018). If rule configuration needs to be changed, changes must be done on the previous rule effective date configuration.
