Symptom
You are trying to enter a Service Item in the Sales Order, but you are facing an error message such as "Error during unit conversion from XX into YY".
XX - represents the Unit of Measure that is being converted.
YY - represents the Unit of Measure that is converted to.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Sales Order work center.
- Select the New Sales Order common task.
- Enter the relevant information on the header level.
- Navigate to the Items tab and enter the Product ID.
- The system throws an error message.
Error message: Error during unit conversion from XX into YY.
Cause
You have scoped two dimensional scales but the master data was inconsistent for that.
Two dimensional scales are only meant to be for "Material Product". Two dimensional scales is a functionality used when you want to define pricing of a material on the Basis on Basic Unit of measurement such as EA, and the unit which defines weight of that material such as "kg".
There is not physical existence of a service so weight cannot be assigned to a service so 2-D scales cannot be used when service is concerned.
Resolution
- You should to de-scoped 2-D scales from your system as you probably did not maintain any 2-D scales for any material or service.
- Go to the Business Configuration work center.
- Select the Active Scope.
- In the Step 4 - Questions, open General Business Data.
- Select Sales Price and Discount list, then Sales Price and Discount list.
- For Question: "Do you want to maintain prices in two dimensions (i.e. based on UoM and weight)?" needs to be deactivate.
- Apply the 2D for the master data of the Product.
