2729521 - Read-only access because HCM Integration is active

Symptom

When using tile Maintain Employees, you have the following error:

Read-only access because HCM Integration is active.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud.

Resolution

Communication Scenario ID SAP_COM_0093 has limited functionality when HCM Integration (e. g. SuccessFactors Employee Central ) is active. In S/4HANA Cloud, the HCM Integration is always active. Therefore the creation of Business Users is not possible and can only be done via an HCM Integration.

The HCM-Integration switch shall not be switched off and on again to avoid this error message. S/4HANA Cloud has been defined with active HCM Integration. If it would be deactivated not all functionalities would work. This is the current behavior.

When HCM Integration is active, the Communication Arrangement SAP_COM_0093 can only be used when a Business User already exists. Within the node 'User' you then can maintain the following user attributes:

  • DateFormatCode;

  • DecimalFormatCode;

  • TimeZoneCode;

  • TimeFormatCode;

  • LockedIndicator;

  • Roles.

There are two Communication Scenarios for HCM Integration available. It depends on whether SuccessFactors Employee Central is used. If SAP manages your SuccessFactors Employee Central, you don't need to use one of the following Communication Scenarios, because SAP is managing the Employee Central Integration Scenario.

  • SuccessFactors Employee Central is used and managed by the customer: Communication Scenario ID SAP_COM_0001;
  • Another external HR Workforce Integration is used: Communication Scenario ID SAP_COM_0301.

 If you don't like to set up an HCM Integration Scenario at S/4HANA Cloud, you can add new Business Users manually via Fiori App "Import Employees".
