Symptom
- HireDate is showing an incorrect format/date
- When the import file is opened in CSV format the date entered is shown correctly as "MM/DD/YYYY", however, after successful import the date format shows in a different format (e.g. YYYY-MM-DD)
- When trying to update the Date format in one of the Custom columns but the date is appears in a different format to that defined in the file.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
Reproducing the Issue
- Upload Employee Import (UDF) User Data File
- Export Employee (UDF) User Data File
- HireDate is displaying incorrectly
Resolution
SF Supports the following date formats for Employee Import:
- "Month/Day/Year" format should be "11/23/2018" (This is US date format default)
- "Day-Month-Year" format should be "23-NOV-2018" (This is UK date format)
When we open the file in CSV format, the spread sheet software will automatically convert all the date formats to MM/DD/YYYY.
So to resolve the said issue, please modify the date format and reimport the data and this will resolve the issue with the date format displayed in the custom columns.
WARNING: If you open the file in MS Excel, MS Excel may translate dates into the mm/dd/yyyy. It is recommended to use a text editor when working with imports
