Symptom
- After a you delete a large amount of data in a table and subsequently a delta merge, the table size is still not decreased
- You checked column RECORD_COUNT, RAW_RECORD_COUNT_IN_MAIN and RAW_RECORD_COUNT_IN_DELTA for your table in M_CS_TABLES
or you run HANA_Tables_ColumnStore_DeltaStorage attached in SAP note 1969700 and get results for RECORDS, RECORDS_MAIN and RECORDS_DELTA
You notice that although the raw number of rows in delta storage is small, the raw number of rows in main storage is much larger than the number of rows - Not only the table size in memory but also the table size on disk is not decreased
- When you run HANA_GarbageCollection_ColumnStore attached in SAP Note 1969700 ( '%' TABLE_NAME, 5120 MIN_MVCC_MEMORY_MB, === modified to ===> '<your table name>' TABLE_NAME, 0 MIN_MVCC_MEMORY_MB, ), the memory allocated by MVCC information is large
