2732122 - Org Unit shows Incorrect Manager for the Employee

The Employee X who reports to his Manager Y appears as the Manager of Y, i.e., both Employees report eachother, which is incorrect.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Organizational Management work center
2. Select the Organizational Structure view
3. Select the Effective Date
4. Select an Org Unit, which is a Reporting Line Unit
5. Go to the Employees tab
6. Select Employee X
7. Select the Manager

You can see that the Manager for Y is shown as X and the manager for X is shown as Y.

Employee Y is the current active manager for the Reporting Line Unit. Employee X is assigned to that Reporting Line Unit, and reports to Manager Y. There is no manager maintained in the organisational hierarchy above this Org Unit.
 
For example:
On dd1.mm1.yyyy1 Employee X was assigned as Manager of an Org Unit, on dd2.mm2.yyyy2 the manager of this Org unit is changed to Employee Y.
In this case Y and X swapped roles as Manager of this Org Unit. Since Employees cannot be their own manager, the best fit logic selects the last valid manager of the Org Unit if no hierarchy exists.

Employees cannot be their own Manager.

The organisational hierarchy is used to determine an employee's manager. If no valid active manager is found then the system uses the best fit logic to determine the last valid manager for an employee.
