2734767 - The Goal Modification Notification is Triggered Twice When a Goal is Copied From One Goal Plan to Another Goal Plan

Symptom

The Goal Modification Notification is Triggered Twice When a Goal is Copied From one Goal Plan to Another Goal Plan.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Goal Management

Reproducing the Issue

  1. As an Employee, open the Objective Plan.
  2. Select to Copy From Other Objective Plan:

    copy goal.png

  3. Select the Objective you wish to copy - this is not modified during selection:

    select goal to copy.png

  4. The Manager receives 2 email notifications, one for the first Objectives plan and one for the second Objective plan.

The email notification shows that the “Test Objective” goal was modified on the 2018 Objectives plan, even though it was only copied and not modified prior to copying:

    2018 obj email.png

The email notification for the 2019 Objectives plan correctly shows the modified action "Created":

Resolution

  • The Goal Modification Notification will trigger twice (once for each goal plan) when a goal is copied from one goal plan to another goal plan.
  • The "Copy" action is considered in the audit trail of the original goal plan as a modification, hence why the Goal Modification Notification triggers for the original goal plan (the goal plan FROM which the goal is copied).
