Symptom

  • Using Veritas NETBACKUP for ASE
      
  • Using the sybackup api, Dump database generates a stacktrace and fails

    SQL Text: dump database model to 'sybackup::-SERV <servername> -CLASS <classname> -SCHED <schedulename>'
     
  • Significant stacktrace entries include:
     
    kernel  Current process (0x3f4102ab) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
    kernel  pc: 0x400000000660fa60 syb_get_sess_pwd+0x3a0
    kernel  pc: 0x4000000005996440 restore_passwords+0x120
    kernel  pc: 0x4000000005995c70 estremote+0xe80
    kernel  pc: 0x40000000050115f0 dpdb_main+0xe90
     
  • The 'net password encryption' option is set to TRUE for SYB_BACKUP 
     
  • ASE is configured using Process mode engines
