2736192 - Error when trying to import Job History - Employee Central

Symptom

When trying to import Job History of an Employee the following error occurs:

"for Object [e.g. Department, Division, Cost Center] is not a consistent value with the associated Object [e.g. Department, Division, Cost Center] with value [specific value]"

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central: Import Employee Data

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Admin Center
  2. Go to Import Employee Data
  3. Import -> Job History
  4. Select the file
  5. Validate the Import
  6. The error will appear in the screen

"for Object [e.g. Department, Division, Cost Center] is not a consistent value with the associated Object [e.g. Department, Division, Cost Center] with value [specific value]"

Cause

Invalid or mass in the association between objects that are being changed in the import file.

Resolution

  1. Check the Associations among objects and verify if the corresponding field criteria in the data model are correct.
  2. Check if there are no other associations changing fields and interrupting the propagation of the specified object (This is more visible making the change via UI).
  3. Check the import file and verify if the parent filed in the association present in the import file (For example: If there is an association between custom MDF and Department then make sure that Department field is available in the import file.)
  4. If some fields are left blank on purpose because there are rules expected to propagate the values to other fields (for example, Position to Job Sync rule in Position), please check if you have fields that are set to "View" only. If there are, ensure that the "Allow Import" is set to Yes.
  5. When a job information import is performed, all the OnChange rules are run even if the field has NO_OVERWRITE token. However, the results of the rules are only applied on the record if the target field is blank. If the target field value is not blank then the value of the rule results are ignored. So if, a field is left blank, and an OnChange(like Position to Job Sync rule) may populate the field with an incorrect value. This can result in the above mentioned error. To leave an associated field intentionally blank during import, the import can be performed by disabling 'Enable Business Rules for selected areas: Job Information' in Role based permissions
