2737591 - Employee Contribution Amount is being set to a null value when an Employee Enrolls for a Pension.

Symptom

Employee Contribution Amount is being set to a null value when an Employee Enrolls for a Pension.

Environment

SuccessFactors Employee Central Global Benefits

Reproducing the Issue

The image/s below came from a Demo Instance, Any resemblance to a live customer data is purely coincidental.

Background Information:

In my demo instance I have a business rule that sets the employee contribution amount. ( To view this configuration go to Benefits Admin Overview > Select Benefit > Select the Benefit with Pension/Retirement Saving Plan - type you create> and go to the Employee Contribution Detail Section)

Here is the business rule I created for this demonstration:

 To reproduce the issue:

1. Go to the Benefits Section on the profile of the employee.

2. Enroll for the Pension - Benefit.

3. You will notice that even though I have configured a business rule to populate the value of "Employee Contribution Amount" the value is still set to null.

Cause

This is an Expected Behavior - We only default values if Employee Can Edit Employee Contribution’ is set to ‘No’, in this case the employee does not a have choice to change the amount.

When ‘Employee Can Edit Employee Contribution’ is set to 'Yes' then the employee needs to input the contribution amount manually. In this Scenario since the option is set to Yes then the value is being set to null to force the employee to add the

contribution amount.

NOTE: This scenario is also applicable for Employer Contribution Detail - if ‘Employee Can Edit Employer Contribution’ is set to 'Yes' then value for 'Employer Contribution Amount' will alse be set to null.
