2739809 - Sort Association Configurations - Metadata Framework

Symptom

  • Can we sort through an MDF object's association configurations and order?
  • How do we enable and configure the new 'Allow Reordering' feature?

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Cause

  • Previously, you could sort association configurations on the Configure Object Definitions page, by using the up and down arrow keys.
  • You now have an option, to allow the system to automatically sort association configurations.

Resolution

  • This sorting mechanism is controlled using the 'Allow Reordering' field.
  • This field is available at the object level.
  • By default, this is set to "Yes" and manual sorting is enabled.
  • When you disable this option, configurations are sorted in descending order and the up and down arrow keys are no longer available.
  • We recommend setting this option to "No" to improve system performance for MDF objects that have a large number of child objects.

How to enable 'Allow Reordering'

  1. Admin Center
  2. Configure Object Definition
  3. 'Object Definition' from left dropdown
  4. Select specific object
  5. Take Action > Make correction

  6. Navigate to the Associations section and click on 'Details' link for specific association

  7.  Set 'Allow Reordering' to 'No'

  • If 'Allow Reordering' is toggled from off to on in Configure Object Definition the existing instances will only be updated with a processing order on next save.
  • If 'Allow Reordering' is toggled from on to off, the processing order will not be updated but it will be ignored moving forward.
  • For 1:1 associations implicit order is always off
  • With this new feature, updates to the processing order on relationship table shall be skipped if 'Allow Reordering' is off.
  • In Manage Data UI up/down arrows in the UI shall be removed if 'Allow Reordering' is off.
  • Data in grid layout shall be sorted by createdDate (mdfSystemInternalCode).
