Symptom
Time Account Type is set up with Entitlement Method = Entitled as Transferred
Initial Transfer Rule happens from hire date + 7 years
Frequency = Daily
Environment
Employee Central, Time Off
Reproducing the Issue
- Hire a user now with hire date 7 years in the past, for example 1st Jan 2012, initial transfer happens on the 1st Jan 2019.
- After hire is processed, on the time accounts tab in the workbench between initial transfer date (1.1.19) and current date, zero accruals and entitlements are posted. From the current date onwards accruals and entitlements are posted as expected.
- If you check the Accruals postings, you will also notice that initial accruals are only posted for the first 2 years - (2012 > 2014), then no postings until the current year and date.
Cause
The employees hire date is many years in the past (Jan 2012) and the time account type is defined for daily accruals.
To avoid performance and memory overflow issues there is an upper limit for accruals that are calculated.
If no other value is defined for the time account type, (maximumSimulationHorizonInMonths, not visible by default) accruals are calculated up to 24 months. It is not recommended to increase this default value. Therefore accrual creation stops start of 2014.
So for past dated hires, for daily frequency the system only supports hires up to 2 years in the past for automatic accrual postings.
After that the accruals will not happen until the current date.
This also affects the entitlements, which will only post from the current date.
If the frequency changes, for example to weekly/monthly, then accruals may happen for more than 2 years after hire date.
Resolution
To resolve the issue, please re run the accrual calendar manually with recalculation flag enabled.
