2741163 - ASE fails to shutdown after issuing 'shutdown with wait' command - SAP BS on ASE

Symptom

  • When shutdown with wait was issued for ASE configured with Job Scheduler and Backup server, only Backup Server was stopped. But the ASE didn't terminated
    1> shutdown with wait='00:02:00'
    2> go
  • Using isql to connect to ASE and run dbcc stacktrace on spid running shutdown, it would show the stack trace as in the following example :
    1> dbcc traceon(3604)
    2> go
    1> dbcc stacktrace(<spid>)
    2> go
    upyield .....
    shutdownjobscheduler .....
    syb_polite_shutdown .....
    shutdownproc .....
  • Also run dbcc stacktrace on spid of JOB SCHEDULER, it would show the stack trace as in the following example :
    1> dbcc traceon(3604)
    2> go
    1> dbcc stacktrace(<spid>)
    2> go
    upsleepgeneric .....
    ksnetctlrRecv .....
    ja__recv_buffer .....
    ja__recv_jscomm_header .....
    ja_recv_jsagent_response .....
    js__upstream_agent .....
    js__chores .....
    jobscheduler .....
