2743282 - Error 1204 and/or 1205 followed by Error 12311 leading to zombie spid - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • After (many) Errors 1204 (out of locks)

Error: 1204, Severity: 17, State: 2
ASE has run out of LOCKS. Re-run your command when there are fewer active users, or contact a user with System Administrator (SA) role to reconfigure ASE with more LOCKS.

  •  And/or after Error 1205 (deadlock)

Error: 1205, Severity: 13, State: 1
Your server command (family id #0, process id #1688) encountered a deadlock situation. Please re-run your command.

  • ASE reports Errors 12311, 21 and 6103

Error: 21, Severity: 20, State: 1
WARNING - Fatal Error 12311 occurred at Jan 24 2019  6:35PM.  Please note the error and time, and contact a user with System Administrator (SA) authorization.

Error: 12311, Severity: 20, State: 7
Internal error: address lock request on page 12345 of index id 2 of table 'sysprocedures' (id = 5) in database 'tempdb' failed with status -2. No need to drop the index.
Error while undoing log row in database 'tempdb'.  Rid pageid = 0x33637d; row num = 0x1.
WARNING: Pss 0x0x00002aab38162cc8 found with open sdes. pspid 1688, psuid 669, pcurdb 8, system table entry 0, sdesp 0x0x00002aab15ef6990, objid 8.

Error: 6103, Severity: 17, State: 1

  • Resulting in a zombie process leaving an open transaction.
