2743934 - Intercompany Journal Entry Voucher Error Message: 'Highlighted date must remain in calendar year'

Symptom

You have created an intercompany journal entry voucher (IC JEV) with first posting date in 2019, however an error is raised when you later try to change the posting date to a different calendar year.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to General Ledger work center.
  2. Go to Intercompany Journal Entry Vouchers view.
  3. Edit your In Preparation journal entry.
  4. Change the Posting Date to a date in a different fiscal year e.g. 31.12.2018

The following error message is raised: 'Highlighted date must remain in calendar year <reference year>'

Cause

Note that the document ID for this IC JEV has already been created, even though its still In Preparation. This happens because the document has been saved without posting. For this kind of JEV, the year is relevant for determining the document id. Therefore, the system considers the posting date that was firstly given in the document (before saving) in order to determine the fiscal year for document number range. Hence, if later (after saving, but before posting) you change the posting date to a different calendar year, the number range is not recomputed to the new reference. The error message is then raised since posting this document in the deviating year e.g. 2018 with a number range from e.g. 2019 would cause issues with the sequence in document IDs that were posted for 2018.

Therefore, this IC JEV can only be posted in 2019.

Resolution

If you need the IC JEV to be posted in a different calendar year, a new document needs to be created with the corresponding posting date.
