Symptom
You want to set a deactivation date for migrated fixed asset, but this is not possible. You notice that the status of the Fixed Asset is Capitalized. Despite the value of the Fixed Asset is zero. Normally when the value is Zero the status would show as In Preparation.
This Fixed Asset is a migrated Fixed Asset. The migration service always sets Fixed Assets status as “Capitalized” even if there are no postings. With zero valued, the fixed asset cannot be scraped or sold. Therefore the Deactivation Date needs to be set and this will then set the Fixed Asset as retired.
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
