Symptom

  • While peforming an upgrade to S4/HANA 1809, Software Update Manager (SUM) stops in phase PHASE: PREP_CHKIMPORT/READDATA_STRL
  • The error below can be found the SAPupConsole.log 
=========== Missing Archives in Download Directory ===========

The following archives are required:
 
 |Description |
 ----+----------------------------------------+
 1|Archive with attributes 'patchtype=DDIC;|
 
Add these archives to the download directory "<download folder>" and
continue the procedure afterwards.
