2748424 - Revaluation Gets Transferred Proportionally When Posting Fixed Asset Transfer

Symptom

You transfer the acquisition cost from fixed asset ABC(ABC represents the ID of source fixed asset) to fixed asset DEF(DEF represents the ID of target fixed asset), the revaluation amounts posted in the source fixed asset ABC also gets transferred to the target fixed asset DEF proportionally.

You find that there is a line item type 'Proportional Write-Up of Prior-Year Acquisitions' be posted in fixed asset transfer posting.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Fixed Assets work center.
  2. Go to Fixed Assets view.
  3. Search ABC
  4. Select Fixed Asset ABC and click on on Edit Values
  5. View subtab Journal
  6. Find the transfer Journal Entry ZZZ(ZZZ represents the ID of journal entry ID). You can see, there are two lines belong to Journal Entry ZZZ. One is 'Historical Cost Fixed Assets', another one is 'Proportional Write-Up of Prior-Year Acquisitions'. You consider line item type 'Proportional Write-Up of Prior-Year Acquisitions' is unexpected.

Cause

Before you transfer the acquisition cost from fixed asset ABC to fixed asset DEF, fixed asset ABC has Revaluation posting.The 'Proportional Write-Up of Prior-Year Acquisitions' stands for revaluation postings. The revaluation postings are proportionally linked to the acquisition costs and not standalone costs.

Resolution

The system works as designed.
