2749006 - ASE reboot is required to load a new SSL certificate after the existing certificate expires - SAP ASE 16.0

Symptom

  • When a certificate for SSL communication expires, a restart is required; causing an outage.
  • There is no way to check the expiry date in ASE and there are no error messages in the ASE errorlog.
  • The sequence of steps required to generate certificates with $SAP_JRE7_64/bin/keytool is complex and error prone.
  • Need to replace certificates while ASE is running.
