Symptom

  • Dumping a Database using compression

dump database distribution to '/backup/db_dump/<backup>'
with compression = 1

  • Getting the following error reported when loading a database dump:

Dec 4 09:46:08 2018: Backup Server: 4.188.1.1: Database distribution: 622108 kilobytes (30%) LOADED.
Dec 4 09:46:08 2018: A00: SYBMULTBUF ERROR: uncompress(): Input data corrupted
Dec 4 09:46:08 2018: Backup Server: 4.139.2.22: [105] The 'uncompress' call failed for database/archive device while working on stripe device '/backup_fidbp/db_dump/distribution_dump_db' with error number 0 (Error 0). Refer to your operating system documentation for further details. Look for 'Dec 4 09:46:08 2018: A00: SYBMULTBUF ERROR: ' in the backup server errorlog for additional information from SYBMULTBUF.
Dec 4 09:46:08 2018: Backup Server: 6.32.2.3: /backup_fidbp/db_dump/distribution_dump_db: volume not valid or not requested (server: , session id: 57.)
Dec 4 09:46:08 2018: Backup Server: 1.14.2.4: Unrecoverable I/O or volume error. This DUMP or LOAD session must exit.
