SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Time Off

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Administer Time for... employee;
  2. Click on Create Absence;
  3. Select a Leave of Absence Time Type;
  4. Select the Start Date and Expected Return Date;
  5. Click on Submit -> Error Occurs



Scenario 1

Wrong Right to Return rule configuration. In order to check this configuration please follow:

  1. Go to Admin Center;
  2. Go to Position Management Settings;
  3. Click on Right to Return tab;
  4. Check the rule assigned to Unassign from Position field on Right to Return for Leave of Absence section;
  5. Make sure that the rule is configured accordingly following the Implementation Guide: Employee Central Position Management - Right to Return;
  6. Also the rule should be created using the correct Scenario that is Unassigned Incumbent from Position for Right to Return:


Scenario 2

Please check that the user you're creating a leave request for does not already have a Right to Return configured. If the start date of the new leave request matches the start date of the previous Right to Return details, you will also encounter this error.

Invalid Rule configuration


Scenario 1

Re-create the rule according the Implementation Guide and using the correct Scenario and assign it to Unassign from Position field on Right to Return for Leave of Absence within Admin Center -> Position Management Settings

Scenario 2

To check if the user already has a Right to Return maintained, navigate to the Position Org Chart and ensure there is no Right to Return Details tab maintained for the user in question. If there is, the dates will need to be modified, or the current Right to Return details will need to be deleted.

Scenario 3

Download Rule Trace -> Check if any rule ends in error and correct the configuration (Example: There could be a rule trying to set multiple value to a filed, but it should be configured to set only One value to field).
