Symptom

  • Unable to browse the web service definition. Cannot open connection - openConnection remote error: No metadata response generated for the request.
  • Web service Basic authentication, password contains '&' character
  • DSOnPremiseAgent log contains following error XML in the MDS reply:
    • <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
      <MetadataReply xmlns="http://www.sap.com/DataServices/DataServicesXSD">
      <ID>error: Unexpected character encountered (lex state 3): 'p'</ID>
      <Status>
      <StatusCode>ERROR</StatusCode>
      <Message>No metadata response generated for the request.</Message>
      </Status>
      </MetadataReply>
