2752642 - How to determine which password algorithm is used? - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • In a server upgraded from before ASE 15.0.2, there can be two different password encryption types.
  • Each login will have 1 of these types set, but the types may differ between logins (ie not all logins have the same type).
  • When changing sp_passwordpolicy to no longer "allow password downgrade", passwords using the old Sybase proprietary type will be affected.
