Symptom

An SAP instance does not start. The corresponding joblog shows the following error:

SAPcontrol_WaitforServiceStarted: RunPaseRedirectIO() Failed            
StartInstance: Error starting sapstartsrv job. rc = 5 (ScStatus_Internal),
check instance manually.                                              
O4STRSTP: Starting instance <nn> of system <SID> on host <hostname> failed.
Where <SID> is the system ID, <nn> is the instance number and <hostname> is the hostname of the SAP instance
