2765110 - SAP Cloud Integration Runtime Error when connecting to an external system: "Unable to find valid certification path to requested target"

Symptom

When connecting to an external system from Cloud Integration you are seeing the error in the MPL: "Unable to find valid certification path to requested target"

The full error may look like:

"org.apache.camel.CamelExchangeException: Sequential processing failed for number 0. Exchange[ID-vsa0000000-00000-12345]. Caused by: [org.apache.camel.RuntimeCamelException - com.sap.gateway.core.ip.component.odata.exception.OsciException: HTTP Request failed with error : executeUtil : failed with error. Message = sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target], cause: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target"
