Symptom

  • How to use ASE BCP command to export tables containing "/" character

  • When using the ASE BCP utility to export data from a table
  • And the table name contains the "/" character or another special character
    • Which is common in table names for SAP BW, APO, Solution Manager & Business Suite (ERP) systems

  • Error 102 is returned :

bcp "/BIC/FTABLE" out FTABLE.out -USAPSR3 -SSID -X -n 
Server Message: SID - Msg 102, Level 15, State 181: Incorrect syntax near '/'. Unexpected result type returned. Retrieving table format failed.
