Symptom
A new template is created and uploaded to the system, but when a user adds a goal, some display fields are not visible:
**Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental**
Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors Succession & Development
- SAP SuccessFactors Performance & Goals
Reproducing the Issue
- Add a new template to the system (via Provisioning)
- Open the Development or Goal Plan
- Some fields do not display after adding a goal
- Users have to click on the Display options to enable the missing field checkboxes
Cause
The view default for the missing fields has been set to "off" in the template xml:
Resolution
Note: in order to make changes in the XML, please contact your Implementation Partner. If you don't have a Partner, you can find for SAP Certified Partners via the SAP Partner Finder or, alternatively, speak with your Account Executive or Customer Engagement Executive about Professional Services options.
- Set the "viewdefault" to "on" for all fields you wish to see after adding a goal:
- Upload back into the system and all fields will be visible after adding a goal:
Important:
The Development and Goal plans are designed to remember your preferences. So if you change the display settings manually to show only some fields, the system remembers your personalisation and will display this the next time you logon. This is by design and cannot be changed
Development plan label layout:
It is recommended to keep the field labels short to avoid having to scroll across the plan. The only field that can stack (in lines) is the competency field. This is because the competency field needs to be able to list competencies:
Note: all plan-layout fields must add up to 100%. The percent given will define the spacing between the labels. However, when using very long labels, the spacing will be removed.
