Symptom
You noticed that the Cost in Sales Order does not reflect the same cost under the Product Master Data.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
-
Go to Sales Order Work Center.
- Select the Sales Order view.
- Search for the document ID XYZ.
- Open it.
- Click Edit button.
- Navigate to the Pricing and Invoice Tab. Here, you can see that the cost is different than the one which is expected.
Cause
The original Sales Order was created on DD.MM.YYYY, when the Moving Average price was still $500. It can be seen in the Inventory Cost History for that product.
Resolution
The Documents which were created before the changes in the Moving Average price will not be updated. However, for example if you try to create a backdated document, after the Moving Average Price update, the cost rate that will get picked will be the moving average cost rate that is maintained for that entire period, that is the final cost rate for that period after all transactions have already occurred.
