The country field on the career site and add candidate function is blank.

When creating an account as an external candidate on the career site,no values are displayed in the Country of Residence field.

The "country" standard field is not defined in the Candidate Profile Template.

1. Open the external career site.
2. Click "Create Account" and check the field Country of Residence - no values in Country of Residence drop down.

The country field is a required field in the candidate profile XML and has to be defined, the candidate and user permissions, for example, rely on the candidate field information so it is necessary to select a value when a candidate is created in the system.

If the standard country field is not configured in the Candidate Profile template or it is not using the standard country picklist, you will see this behavior.

It is mandatory to have the 'country' standard field defined in the Candidate Profile Template and it should be associated to the standard country picklist, which is the 'country' one as well:

This picklist should have picklist label setup for the countries in English US (en_US) language, and also in case you are working with picklist center, make sure the Legacy Picklist Id is the correct one as well:
