2768097 - Supported Characters in iContent File and Folder Names for SuccessFactors Learning

Symptom

  • Content will not run in the SAP SuccessFactors Learning Management System
  • IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) standards for adding file names to content
  • When experiencing trouble launching content in SuccessFactors Learning, it is possible unsupported special characters were used in content file names

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Cause

  • Currently the launch urls are constructed based on the name/path of the uploaded content.
  • These problematic characters can corrupt the launch urls, causing 404 errors and other malfunctions.

Resolution

Summary of the unsupported characters: 

  • The below characters are classified ’reserved’, so can not be used in any file and folder names:

:  /  ?  #  [  ]  @  !  $  &  '  (  )  *  +  ,  ;  =

  • The below characters are classified ’unsafe’, so can not be used in any file and folder names:

space  <  >  "  #  %  {  }  |  \  ^  ~  [  ]  `
