Symptom

CPI / HCI showing error:

org.apache.cxf.interceptor.Fault: Could not send Message., cause: org.apache.cxf.transport.http.HTTPException: HTTP response '502: Bad Gateway' when communicating with http://server1.domain.com:xxxx/...

Environment

  • SAP CPI/HCI connecting in your SAP HCM ERM ECC system.
  • Replicating Employee Master Data and Organizational Assignments from Employee Central to SAP ERP HCM

Cause

http://server1.domain.com:xxxx/... is unavailable to external connections or doesn't exists.

Resolution

  1. Verify if the server is ready to get external (from internet) connections, normally, the local IT team can provide support for this.
  2. Verify is the URL is right. On How to Find the Endpoint URLs chapter on Replicating Employee Master Data and Organizational Assignments from Employee Central to SAP ERP HCM to get the right Endpoint URL.
