2770523 - What is The Purpose of The Show/Refresh Route Owner’s Schedule Button

Symptom

What is the purpose of the Show/Refresh Route Owner’s Schedule button in the Route TI.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Visits work center.
  2. Go to the Routes view.
  3. Open the Route ABC (ABC represents the Route ID).
  4. In the Overview tab, select Actions--->Show/ Refresh Route Owners schedule.
  5. The Route just Refreshes and is now in Edit mode.

Cause

The Show/Refresh Route Owner’s Schedule button is essentially a flag at the route level that ensures that when visits are added to their respective dates, that the route owner’s existing schedule of appointments/visits are taken account for.

Resolution

The history of this flag is that previously when route object was initially conceptualized, this flag wasn’t on by default – hence, if the user never turned this on, then the user would have to explicitly call this action to populate the route object with the existing schedule. However, this has since been requested of customers as a best practice to always route plan with this flag on by default, as you would always expect that the planning would have to consider any existing meetings.
