2771877 - SQLException: ORA-28040: No matching authentication protocol during startups - EIS

Symptom

  • SAP Enterprise Inventory and Service-Level Optimization (EIS) application version 6.10+ will not start.
  • Oracle database has recently been upgraded to Oracle 12c.
  • In the SmartOps application log the following ORA- error is seen upon startup:

    2019-03-22 00:12:57 UTC FATAL          Deploy Parallel Start Thread 3  SmartConnectionPool Failed to create connection pool
    2019-03-22 00:12:57 UTC EXCEPTION      Deploy Parallel Start Thread 3  SmartConnectionPool ORA-28040: No matching authentication protocol
