Symptom
You are using a report based on the data source Visit Header (technical ID CODAPAVISITHB) and you notice that the characteristic Start Date shows wrong dates for some visits.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the work center Business Analytics, view Design Data Sources.
- Open the data source Visit Header (CODAPAVISITHB) via the Preview button.
- Make the required selection, for example filter for the respective visit, and start the data source.
- In the view, add the characteristic Start Date.
You notice that this start date is not the same as shown in the visit. Additionally, you might add the key figure Start Date and notice that it shows the correct date.
Cause
The characteristic Start Date shows the date and time of the visit in UTC. The key figure shows the start date with a time zone conversion, that is, the UTC time is converted to the local time of the user which is maintained under My Settings (top right corner of the screen).
The start date and time in the visit is also shown with a time zone conversion, hence the key figure shows the same value as in the visit.
Resolution
You can either use the key figure, or alternatively make use of the characteristic Start Date in Local Time Zone. This characteristic also considers the time zone you have maintained under My Settings.
