2774041 - Error when saving object - Object Exceeds its max length of N characters

We are trying to create a jobFuncion object, although it is presenting an error.

 "field in object xxxx exceeds its max length of NN characters."

When saving an object system validates already present data with the object definition of it.

In this case there is a field of data type translatable having values more than 15 characters and in system the field value is set as 15 characters.

This happens when data was already existing as greater than 15 characters but later we change the limit from 255 characters to 15 characters.

Go to Import and Export Data Admin tool.

Export data without including dependencies.

Include inactives.

Download the result from monitor jobs.

Filter the result to check the field mentioned in the error message and find out the field having more values than mentioned character.

Now using same Import and Export Data Admin tool, download the object template and update the value to correct character limit.

Import the corrected value.

Try to save /create a new object of this type.
