Reproducing the Issue

Go to the Employee Profile and navigate to the 'Historical Matrix Grid Placement Portlet', you can see a link to navigate to the Matrix Grid feature in Succession or Reporting

This link will appear by default for all users who have been assigned 'Matrix Report Permission' in their Role Based Permissions

The permission which controls the visibility of users placements is the 'Succession Management and Matrix Report Permission' while the permission to access the Matrix Grid feature is the 'Matrix Report Permission'

If a user should only see the placements on the 'Historical Matrix Grid Placement Portlet' and not be able to navigate to the Matrix Grid feature, you can remove the access to this feature from their Role Based Permissions.
