2775464 - Error 7305 when trying to use SELECT...FOR UPDATE - SAP ASE

Symptom

Error 7305 is raised if the sp_configure option "select for update" is not set on when trying to use "select … for update", but the error message does not identify the sp_configure setting as the issue causing the failure.


Example:
Server 'ASE', Procedure 'test_proc', Line 12:
FOR UPDATE can not be used in a SELECT which is not part of the declaration of a cursor or which is not inside a stored procedure.
