You descoped the Approval Process for Service Contracts but when working on a Contract, you still receive the following message:

'Please submit for Approval'

Reproducing the Issue


You descoped the following question:

'Do you want to use a multi-step approval for service contracts?'

  1. Go to the Contracts work center.
  2. Select the Contracts view.
  3. Open Contract ABC (ABC represents the Contract ID).
  4. Select the Edit button.
  5. Make some changes to the Contract.
  6. Select the save button.

You see the following message:

'Please submit for Approval'

In Addition, you can still see the active Approval Process for Contracts in the Administrator work center and the Approval Processes view.


The reason for this behaviour is that the Approval process for Sales Contracts is still scoped.

There is only one approval Process for both Contract Types. As soon as the approval process is scoped for either Sales or Service contracts, this approval process will be available and active.


If the Approval Process is only needed for one of the two contract Types, you can add a condition to the Approval Process so that the Approval is only necessary if the Contract Type equals Service Contract or Sales Contract.

All contracts will need to be submitted for approval, but the Contracts that do not fulfill the conditions will have the status Approval not necessary.

In addition, you can set up a Workflow Rule to preform the action Submit for Approval automatically, either per Contract Type or for all Contracts.
