Symptom
Why when I route a completed worksheet back to in process when statements have been generated do the permissions I have configured stop working?
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Compensation
Reproducing the Issue
Firstly you:
- Generate Statements for Completed Worksheets
- Set permissions on the Manage Statement Templates Page - Set to "Generated statements are not viewable"
- See in Employee Profile statements are not visible per settings configured
Next you:
- Route the worksheet back from completion to in process
- Check Employee Profile and see statements are now visible even though you have it configured to be hidden
Cause
Expected Behavior - Incorrect handling of Worksheets and Statements
Resolution
- When you complete a worksheet you are closing it off effectively allowing then statements to be generated and permissions assigned. This can be seen in the manage statement templates page under complete compensation cycle. You can see a number of employees are assigned for the statements. When you generate the statements you are binding the permissions you set up (these are dynamic) to the statements generated and listed on that page.
- If you route the completed worksheet backwards however you will notice that the number of employees assigned and number of generated statements are removed. You have effectively de-linked the statements generated from the permissions as statements should not be generated for worksheets not in completed step.
- This is why you can see the statements in employee profile when you do this as they are not permissioned anymore. This would not be best practice to route forms back when statements are generated. Firstly you would need to recall them as any updates on the worksheets will have no effect on generated statements. Then once recalled you can the route the worksheets back.
- In conclusion, the statements are now visible as a result of moving the worksheet back. The permissions binding to the statements are not synced anymore and will only sync back once the worksheet is in completed step. You will need to move the worksheet forward to then recall the statements.
